Hiring a technology leader

Strong technology leaders are rarely job hunting. techexec stays in touch with them between moves, so your search starts with people who’ll take the call.

How a search works

  1. The brief

We start with the decisions that make or break the hire: who the role reports to, what’s in scope, what the first year has to deliver, and what the package can be. Strong candidates ask about all of these in the first conversation, so we settle them before anyone is approached.

  2. The search

We start with the network and the leaders we already know, then approach people directly. We tell candidates who the client is only when they’re interested and you’ve agreed, and nobody’s name reaches you without their yes.

  3. The shortlist

You get a short list of people we’ve spoken to properly, with what each has actually done, why they’re interested, and anything that worries us. Not a pile of CVs.

  4. The decision

We help you run interviews that test what the brief says matters, take references, and manage the offer and the resignation, which at this level often has a long notice period.

Confidential, both ways

Many technology leadership searches are sensitive: a leader still in the seat, a restructure, a breach. Your search stays private, and so do the candidates in it.

  • We don’t advertise a role unless you want it advertised.
  • Candidates learn who you are only once they’re interested and you’ve agreed.
  • You learn who candidates are only once they’ve said yes to your role.
  • No sponsors and no vendors: nobody pays us for access to the leaders we know.
